Continuing our charity volunteering days, LDF employee’s Gemma and Melissa spent the day with Chester charity CATH (Chester Aid to the Homeless). The charity, which was founded in 1972, aims to provide help and support to Chester’s homeless community through a variety of services, including a drop-in day service and the CLASP Accommodation Project that helps find secure housing for individuals.
During the volunteering day, Gemma and Melissa assisted with a clean-up of the store room which contained clothing and bedding donations and also, were involved with client-engagement through CATH’s current art-project. It was a great opportunity to spend some time working with CATH’s clients on a one-to-one basis and as part of a group.
For more information on the activities CATH undertake visit their website www.cath.org.uk or follow all the news on Twitter and Facebook.
"A fantastic morning and were made to feel very welcome. The charity relies heavily on volunteers and so felt like we were needed. I would definitely like to do more with this charity on a personal level as it was an eye opener on how CATH not only provide food and shelter to the homeless, but also the additional services which are a much needed facility to their clients." Gemma Doughty - Marketing Coordinator
"What a fantastic organisation, I didn’t realise the range of services that CATH provide. This includes food, shelter, showers, clothes and support. It was great to get involved with one of their art projects which has been designed and planned by the clients who visit CATH daily." Melissa Hannah - Trainer
