    Working within an agile environment a software engineer at White Oak UK will work closely with all areas of IT, Product Owner, Projects and the business to deliver projects using the SCRUM and KANBAN frameworks. 

Software Engineer / Senior Software Engineer / Lead Software Engineer

Location: Ewloe Office, North Wales

Role and key responsibilities:

  • Be part of an agile team responsible for project delivery.
  • Contribute to the estimation and implementation of user stories helping to shape their design and implementation.
  • Contribute to acceptance criteria and relevant documentation.
  • Unit testing and test driven development.
  • Produce software against a set of defined coding standards.
  • Manage and resolve bug fixes through the testing process.
  • Create system documentation for effective handover to support teams
  • Deal with escalated live issues.
  • Ensure all work is logged and authorised prior to commencement and updated on a timely basis
  • Provide a point a contact for business areas where work is assigned.
  • Provide timely and effective progress updates on all tasks to the agile team and the business; escalate any issues that will impact on delivery in respect of deadlines, quality, standards.
  • Ensure all tasks are developer and peer tested; assist the business with user acceptance testing as necessary.
  • Provide assistance and support with the maintenance of IT systems.
  • Ensure all development adheres to non-functional (e.g. Security, Availability, Capacity ) requirements and standards.
  • Ensure all code is stored in the appropriate source code library.
  • Review, update and produce system documentation as required.

As a senior software engineer you will also be responsible for:

  • Provide Mentor role to other staff.
  • Contribute to coding standards.
  • Perform code review of other developers’ code

As a lead software engineer you will also be responsible for:

  • Works closely with the agile team, business and liaises with third parties to ensure agile projects are appropriately communicated, planned, designed and delivered to a high standard.
  • Manages resource and work within the agile team.
  • Acts as a domain owner.
  • Proactively drives the business forward by working with the PO, Project and business to contribute to the overall business solutions.

Essential

  • C#.net
  • MVC, Web API
  • JavaScript
  • T-SQL
  • Unit/Integration Testing
  • Understanding of the SOLID principles

Desirable

  • Agile frameworks.
  • Experience of MVVM.
  • OOP principles
  • Understanding the principles of TOGAF or other enterprise architecture.
  • Domain Driven Design
  • SOA
  • Working in a continuous delivery environment.
  • Knowledge of test driven development
  • Understanding of ITIL desirable
  • Knowledge of Apache is desirable.
  • PHP is desirable not essential
  • Knowledge of UI frameworks such as bootstrap
